About Me

My photo
Tony Beale
I've spent most of my life in teaching & leadership and headship roles in primary schools and in school improvement roles in wider education, mentoring newly qualified teachers & training and assessing graduate trainee teachers as a course director for the Graduate Teacher Programme. Before teaching I worked designing industrial furnaces. Pat & I have been married for 56 plus years & live near Nottingham. We have two children & five grandchildren. I'm an avid reader of politics, economics, philosophy, history & educational texts. I teach a philosophy group, lead a creative writing group for adults, and write short stories. I have a daily struggle with the Guardian cryptic crossword and have an enduring love of baroque music, especially JS Bach. My love affair with Preston North End Football Club - the club of my home town - has been a lifelong part of me. The Guardian, Bach & PNEFC are my companions of over 70 years; life without these would be unthinkable! Mostly, however, I spend my time thinking great but irrelevant & irreverent thoughts, being a grumpy old man & failing to make sense of this increasingly worrying world!
